Full Moon: Spirals & knots

A grey stone slab carved with elaborate knotwork and spiral forms, as well as the shapes of horsemen.
A replica of the Hilton of Cadboll Stone, which is a late Pictish standing stone contributing to evidence of the now lost or assimilated Pictish culture in what would become Scotland. There's considerable disagreement over whether the Picts were a group of Celtic tribes, a more Germanic culture, or something else entirely. The ambiguity speaks to something I'll address in this post. (Image attribution: "Deacon of Pndapetzim" on Wikipedia, under a Creative Commons BY-SA 2.5 license.)
